300 and Thankful!

I can hardly believe it myself but this is my 300th post! Really makes me wonder what I have rambled on about for the last 299, either way I hope I have enlightened you or brightened your day at least once. If anyone has a favorite post that they can remember please leave a comment about it, or if you like particular kind of posts, i.e. lots of pictures, random videos, recipes...

I thought I would share some of the things I am most THANKFUL for in my life:

  • My health
  • My home
  • My family & friends, not sure what I would do without you. You all have supported me in some way or another, some more than others, over the years. I really relied a great deal on you especially in optometry school. And no this does not mean I am forever indebted to you and will give you free eyecare... Now if you helped pay for my school, that is another story :)
  • My education, watching "The Girl's Next Door" last night was evident of how important and lucky I am to have such a great education. But I do feel like I lost a few brain cells in the process...
  • My job, so happy to have a great place to work that appreciates me
  • My car is still running even if it is close to 130,000 miles, I don't want to fork over the $$ for a new/different one
  • Starbucks, I just wish there were as many of them as Walgreens
  • My shoe collection, let's be honest here... I love my shoes!
I have so many things to be thankful for. What are you thankful for?

She's here, She's here... SHE'S HERE!!

That's right, Josh & Christiane had their second baby on Sunday Novemeber 15, 2009, Julia, only a week late, but better late than never right :) She is a cutie that is for sure. She was born at 3:11 a.m. and she weighed 7lbs 4 oz and was 19 inches long.

Here she is Julia Schroeter-Heptig. She is getting ready to go home from the hospital
Being introduced to her big sister Celine for the first time. Celine couldn't go see her in the hospital due to new regulations with the flu epidemic. I have heard that she can't stop kissing her :) Can you blame her?
Sleeping beauty. I love her so much already!

Last home game :(

Gosh, has it really been a week since my last post? I am a SLACKER! The past weekend was jam packed with activities. Friday night I went to the men's basketball game, where we won big time! Saturday was the very last home football game, one of the saddest days of the year :( We unfortunately lost the game but I had a great time tailgating and sitting in The EyeDoctors suite.

Here are the red velvet with white chocolate macadamia nut cookie dough cupcakes, there is cream cheese frosting & a vanilla powercat on top :) I heard they were great.

That Hallmark needs to get their cards straight!

I was browsing through the card isle today and noticed one, hopefully, out of place. Pay attention this is the "Kids Birthday" cards... Look at the card 2nd row from the bottom and 3 over from the left...
Here's a closer look. Seems a bit out of place.

Sunflower Showdown

This past weekend was amazing... For many reasons, awesome weather, awesome time with family & friends and an awesome win! Kansas State defeated Kansas, 17-10, in the 107th Sunflower Showdown.

Here is the half time show... If you look close you might be able to see my little sister... The end of the game from The EyeDoctors Suite. It was SWEEEET! Click here for pictures the Kansas State Collegian took. They are pretty awesome.

What?? My flight is delayed?? Oh darn.

I was suppose to fly back to Kansas on last Tuesday, Oct. 27, but my first flight was delayed out of LAX and by the time that flight left I would have missed my connecting flight in Dallas, which was the last one of the day to Manhattan. Instead of staying in a hotel in Dallas I had Tami come back to pick me up at the airport and stayed another day in Hermosa. As you can imagine I was really upset... YEAH RIGHT! I was stoked to get to spend another day and enjoy the sunshine and warmth. And truthfully Tami was glad to have the excuse to get out of work and recover from the night before.

So Wednesday morning I got to get up early, enjoy the amazing coffee from Tami's kitchen one more day, and Boomer and I went for a run to the 90210 house, about 4.5 miles. It was an awesome run and probably should have gone to the Manhattan Pier but I had to get back and get ready for the airport.

Lucky me, my flight was pretty much on time but all the passengers with me were slow pokes! The flight attendants were almost yelling at people to take their seats. Shhzz, it was like no one had ever flown before. So I had some extra time so I got out my camera and started snapping pictures. I think I was making the guy from Argentina next to me nervous :)

This was my view for about 20-30 minutes while people were being loaded onto the plane.
Taxiing (yes that is how you spell that) to the runway

Another plane trying to beat us to the start line...
The wings getting prepared for take off
Pay attention to the tiny plane on the right side of this picture. It looks like it is headed to the building
And it looks like it goes right through. Crazy how close the buildings are
Taking off while another plane is coming in
And we are off!
The saddest picture of the weekend... You can see the Hermosa & Manhattan beach piers
Goodbye my love!

The Pride of Wildcat Land

This past weekend the Kansas State Marching Band traveled down to Arkansas City to play in the Arkalalah festival. Here are some pictures of my little sister and the rest of the band. They sounded amazing!

Sun, sand, sunset & football

One week ago today was my cousin Tami's (actual) birthday. It was one of my favorite days ever. We woke up (after sleeping in) to the most amazing sun, it felt like summer. We had brunch at Good Stuff on the beach, one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places. The walk on the strand was breath taking. Some of the clearest skies I have ever seen in Hermosa Beach.

This is from 2nd Street, I think, looking over at Malibu, locals call it 'the Bu' :)
Surf man in front of the pier
Hermosa Beach Pier Boomer being such a good girl waiting for her momma, I tried to convince Tami that she wanted to come back to KS with me, but she didn't buy it...
Sitting at breakfast, do you see the hummingbird?
It is flying away
Manhattan Beach Pier - still can't believe how clear it is!
After breakfast and our walk we went shopping. Of course when you want to go shopping and WANT to find something you can't find a darn thing :( So we then went back down to Cantina Real at the Hermosa Pier and threw down a Cadillac pitcher of margaritas... Not sure if it was a margarita or a large shot of tequila... I am surprised we weren't hungover by dinner. They were so yummy and the conversation that Tami & I had was even better. I am so lucky to get to spend time with her. She is my big sister from another mother :)
