Wine Night!

This weekend my friend Erin came into town. I think it has been maybe 2 months since she had been to the Little Apple? Anyways, we planned to just stay in and have fun... And fun we did.

Ellen came over and we had a little dinner & wine... Okay maybe more than a little, we did have a cake marking the occasion ;)
This was only a few of the choices we had Saturday night

We decided to do grilled pizzas. Here is Ellen with all the ingredients
Erin is constructing hers
And here I am with mine
Such a fun dinner party food
Love these girls!

Artistic photos. Great wine & music outside
Group shot!
And our special guests of the evening :)
Happy birthday to me!
Making mom proud... No really, she would get a kick out of this. Why waste a glass??
I love my pass thru!

Just another funny

My mom doesn't even have email. :)

Need a laugh?

This is from an email that my friend Kendra sent me. Really cute.

Children Are Quick

TEACHER: Mary go to the map and find North America.

Here it is.
TEACHER: Correct. Now class, who discovered America ?

CLASS: Mary.

TEACHER: Angie, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor?

ANGIE: You told me to do it without using tables.

TEACHER: Billie, how do you spell 'crocodile?'

TEACHER: No, that's wrong

BILLIE: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it.

TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?

TEACHER: What are you talking about?

DONALD: Yesterday you said it's H to O.

TEACHER: Popie, name one important thing we have today that we didn't have ten years ago.

TEACHER: Nancy, why do you always get so dirty?

Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are.

TEACHER: Norman, give me a sentence starting with ' I. '

NORMAN: I is..

TEACHER: No, Norman..... Always say, 'I am.'

NORMAN: All right... 'I am the ninth letter of the alphabet.'

TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father's cherry tree, but also admitted it. Now, Louie, do you know why his father didn't punish him?

EDDIE: Because George still had the axe in his hand....

TEACHER: Now, Gloria, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?

GLORIA: No sir, I don't have to, my Mom is a good cook.

TEACHER: Leroy , your composition on 'My Dog' is exactly the same as your brother's.. Did you copy his?

LEROY: No, sir. It's the same dog.

TEACHER: Joey, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?
JOEY: A teacher

Happy birthday Callum John

Over the weekend I headed down to Winfield. I think the last time I was home was mid summer.. Crazy how the time flies. I was lucky enough to pick a great weekend to go b/c my friend Megan was due any day. She was actually due last Wednesday, so she was more than ready. I was waiting all weekend for a text message or phone call... And I waited. Then finally this morning (Sunday) about 8:00 I got a text saying Megan's water had broke. That only led to more waiting but this time it was anxious waiting. I am happy to report that Megan was not in labor too long and Callum (Cal) John was born at 12:17 a.m. He was 8 lbs 3 oz.

Such a cutie! And really mellow... But then again he was only 3 hours old.

A whole lotta multitasking going on

Over the weekend while we were working on my wall, there was a whole lot of other things going on...
Of course there was this...
Grilling up a little dinner, macaroni & cheese, shrimp & chicken. YUM!

My mom actually cut my sister Ashley's hair and mine
I made some no bake cookies for my little brother
It was a FULL weekend that is for sure.

The HOLE....

Ever since moving into my house I have been wishing & hoping to tear down or put a hole/pass thru/window in the wall between my kitchen & living room. Apparently tearing the wall down completely would be too complicated, so hole/pass thru/window it is! Well this weekend was the weekend... No game and nice weather. So my parents came up on Saturday and left about 24 hours later, wham bam thank you ma'am :)

Here is the wall before
We covered my furniture with a tarp larger than life. I may be able to use it later to fumigate my house... Seriously, so big!

Dad, aka Master Contractor, seeing exactly what he is getting himself into. I started to get nervous when the hammer started to swing, so my mom and I decided to go shopping for a bit, we were told to be gone for about an hour.
This is what we cam home to...
Along with this... a whole lot of dust. This is the outline of my camera on my dining room table that we forgot to cover.
More progress. Taped & mudded up
Trim going up.
And the last piece. And my mom is sweeping my floor for like the 10th time
I love being able to cook & watch TV :)
Toasting to a job well done!
Thanks for the awesome new addition to my house Mom & Dad! You two are the best! Love you!

Last week was a whirlwind week. I worked Monday, Tuesday, then had my normal Wednesday off (that I spent in KC) then I worked half a day in North Topeka, raced home for the game and had Friday off, and worked Saturday. Are you exhausted b/c I am just thinking about it! But I had a great week, minus the little L that K-State took on Thursday. BTW, NOT a fan of Thursday games. And hellllloooo, completely missed the memo that Nebraska was ranked 7th in the poles. I would have prepared myself a bit differently with this information.

There were LOTS of friends in town for the game. Here are some pictures, thanks to my friend Amber. I think I have more at home and will post when I get to it.

Amber & Audra, and notice me in the background, probably eating :)

Just another little funny...

Monday, October 4, 2010

I think I watched this about 20 times last week. So funny, but you may not quite get the humor unless you work with the public... Or have been to the eye doctor, which, btw you should have an eye exam yearly! See clearly, be seen yearly!
