More lake time

This past weekend I was invited by my good friend Dina to come hang out with her at her lake house... duh, I jumped at the chance of course. I spent Saturday night, Sunday, Monday night and Tuesday soaking up some sun and having some quality girl time. So lucky to have such a wonderful friend, not to mention one with a wonderful 2nd home. It was a perfect little get away. I was able to visit with my Grandma who is in the hospital in the same town, did some light reading, caught up with some other friends, did some hiking and really got to work on my tan.

Here are some pictures of the shoreline & boat house.

Jack and his raw hide... Got really gross when this was wet!
Shot of Dina's great flowers, boat house & the cabin at the top of the hill.

SUNSET!!
Dina earned her fire badge that night :) I love the smell of campfire
The important things in life... Wine, music (iPod), sunsets and a friend to share it all with :)
Thank you Dina for a great time. I can't wait to spend more time with your and your amazing family. You guys have been so great to me through the years.

A much needed long weekend

The phrase "it's who you know, not what you know" is one of my favorites of life. It has been something that has been true for much of my life. This weekend is no different. As many ups and downs as I had in optometry school, one of the MANY ups is the friends I made. Since there are so few optometry schools in the U.S. there are students from lots of different states in one school. Some of the friends I made in school I will cherish forever and I hope we can stay in touch for the rest of our lives. This weekend reminded me just how lucky I am to have these such friends. I got to spend Friday-Monday on the lake in Beaver, AR. If you have never experienced a lake in AR, you MUST check them out. They are the next best thing to an ocean :) I also took my friend Ellen with me. She fit in perfect and I hope made some new friends.

Colored Contact lenses

This was a bit more of a problem when I lived in Memphis but here is a good video reminding us that contact lenses are a medical device and should be fit properly by a medical professional.

A little bit unconventional

You could probably say my picture hanging style is a bit unconventional... Here are my tools.
1. A solid wedge heel
2. A free measuring tape from my mom
3. My handy iLevel thanks to my iPhone App :)

My retreat

Slowly I am making my house into a home. I just got cable this weekend, which has made me happier than I thought. One thing I found out before I got cable was how ridiculously quite my house is, too quiet at times. I am really enjoying it and have lots more work to do, mainly in the yard. Here are pictures of my room. I love the wall color & of course the PURPLE in it :)

All the closets - not as full as I thought it would be ;)
Ah... my bed. I love it.

Notice the lounge chair right outside my room, it is an extension of my bedroom.
And my bath. I really love the colors in it.
