A visit from Kendra

This weekend Kendra came to visit. We always have a great time no matter what we do, even if it is nothing. She works on Saturdays so she didn't make it into town until 6 but we got to go downtown and eat at Blue Fin (one of her favs) and crash a bachelorette party, those pictures are to come. Sunday we both slept to almost 10! Julianne made us a champagne breakfast and then we went to go see our friend Lindsay and her new baby boy, Henry who is 3 weeks old. And of course we had to stop by DSW... Kendra loves that place, and yes so do I :) We finished the weekend by an early dinner at Carabbas, such good food! Hopefully she will be coming back next weekend for Homecoming festivities & more fun.

Happy Birthday Tangee!

Today is my friend Tangee's birthday. She is away on externs and doesn't get great cell phone reception where she lives so I did not get to talk to her today but did want her to know I was thinking of her. Hope you had a great day girl. When will I see you next? Homecoming? Hope soon. Miss you. Happy Birthday!

Live at the Garden.

Friday night I got to experience something I have been wanting to for quite some time here in Memphis, Live at the Garden. Julianne somehow thru her Make a Wish connections got us amazing tickets that were well valued over $80 each. It was a very fun girls night. We got our own table and set up an "adult" picnic. Sub sandwiches, crab dip, pimento dip, hummus, various chips, fruit salad & of course wine & margaritas, what is a party/picnic without it. Enough of the food, what about the music you ask?? It was great, the B-52s. Even though I only knew 2 songs, Love shack & Rome, they really did put on a great show. It was a great night, amazing weather, great people watching (love watching out of control older well to do people make fools out of themselves), great music, great food & great friends.

Talk about Genius!

Sadly over the past month I have watched my companion, my iPod, take a turn for the worst and today I believe it may be on its last leg. It has has been acting up by the screen not working. When it first started doing this I could turn it on and off a few times and it would be revived, this trick seems to not be working any more. I took it into the Apple store and they ran a diagnostic on it and told me it would be $80 to fix but the NEW 8G nano is only $150... Duh, no brainer get the new one. I do love my old one but check out what the new one can do! The coolest and most mindblowing feature is when you want your music shuffled you just give it a shake, seriously. If my HP computer ever dies I am certainly going to invest in an Apple. They really know what is going on and have such great customer service.

Great weekend

This weekend was perfect! Friday Erin & I went out for dinner at Le Chardonnay, excellent food & wine, we also met up with Natalie there. And for the first time in months I got to sleep in on a Saturday, felt so good. I finally got situated in my new room, pictures soon to follow. Jules & I cleaned the house, so therapeutic for me not sure about for her :) Then Saturday night Megan, Joe & Luke came over for tapas and wine. It was like old times on Walton (sniff, sniff). We all got a little over-served and had an ol' fashioned sleep over, Luke slept with me in my room and I got a nice little wake up call at 6:45 a.m. I got him out of bed and we laid in mine while he told me all about his dreams from the night. We all got up and went to breakfast and got back into the swing of a Sunday, aka shopping :) It was a great weekend back in Memphis. Can't wait for many more of them.

Back to school, back to school...

This week I started clinic once again in Memphis. I say I have gone back to school b/c I am under the magnifying glass and scrutiny of all the staff doctors and multiple staff at the clinic. Some days it is more than I can handle, okay all days.

I know I will complain about it a lot, so get used to it. One of the biggest surprises, aka crappy thing, that happened this week is I just found out that I have to stay in the Low Vision clinic until 6:00 the days I am in there. Sounds reasonable right? Wrong, the last patient scheduled for the day is normally before noon. How is that worthwhile? Such b.s.

Luckily I have great roommates to listen to my woes & great friends back at school, we help each other through it all.

This is me & Erin at Rio Loco after our first day of clinic

Labor at the Lake

This past Labor Day weekend I got to spend it once again in Heber Springs with lots of friends, fun & sun. Couldn't have asked for better weather or better company. I have been asked by many to share pictures from the weekend and finally have found time to do so. It has taken me a while b/c I drove from Kansas straight to Arkansas and then on Monday I drove to Memphis, arrived at my new home around 9 p.m. and had to quickly settle in so I could get some good sleep for my first day back to work. It has been non-stop since I left California to say the least, but a good non-stop. I managed to surprise Megan a day early and boy was she! It was so good to get to catch up before the Labor Day mayhem started, we had not seen each other in 4 months!

As you will tell in the pictures I absolutely love the lake. Megan & Luke moved there in July (Joe is still in Memphis working) so it was strange initially for her & I not to be driving back to Memphis together on Monday, some tears were shed for sure but I just have to remind myself that she is just a car ride away. And heck it gives me a good excuse to get away for the weekend and I have a place to stay, I can't complain!

This is the scene I saw when driving into Heber over the big dyke, such a pretty sunset
